Engage directly with authentic sources to deepen your understanding—you may discover that what you’ve heard about Muslims or Islam isn’t entirely accurate.
Islam is present in family structure and relationships, social norms and customs and every other aspect of a person’s day to day goings. Learning about Islam will give you invaluable insights into why a student may insist on sharing their lunch, be silent during the athan (call to prayer), or need to wash before praying. Learning about other’s beliefs is the best way to understand and connect with others. Knowledge and awareness fosters understanding and community.
Islam is not simply a religion but a complete way of life. This is why Islam plays the most important role in the life of a Muslim and can is woven in every aspect of Muslim societies. Qatar, being a Muslim country, is no different. The Islamic identity cannot be separated from the Qatari identity.
Knowing about Islam will also help you navigate international curriculums within the context of Qatar. Even a basic knowledge will allow you to pause and ask yourself whether a text, image or example is appropriate in Qatar’s society.

Muslims believe and worship Allah, the one true god who created everything that exists. Muslims believe in all the prophets sent by Allah and also believe in their books. Muslims believe in Angels, life after death and divine decree or predestination.

Islam, although a continuation from previous Prophets starting with Adam to Noah, Abrahim, Isaac, Job, Joseph, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus and others - Prophet Muhammad received revelation in Makkah at the age of 40. This revelation from God, which was sent through the Angel Gabriel started with the word Iqra [READ!] and was completed over a period of 23 years.
Islam grew to cover the Arabian Peninsula in the life of the Prophet Muhummad, peace be upon him, and later spread as far as China. Today, Islam is practiced in every corner of the globe with the original Word of God - The Qur’an being perfectly preserved in its original form and the authentic teachings of Prophet Muhammad being transmitted for over 1400 years.
